Environment Management Systems

Environment Management Systems such as ISO 14001 and Green Globe 21 have been recognised globally in order to promote a uniform standard for the field of quality and environment with companies.

ISO certified companies have an advantage compared with those companies that are not ISO certified and active in the same field. A well-developed environmental management system will be cost effective at the same time.

ISO 14001

ISO 14001 is an environmental care system. This system has been developed to meet an increasing need for a recognised standard for an environmental management system. This standard is compatible with the provisions of the standards for management systems ISO 9001 (Quality) and OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety) in order to enhance the integration of management systems for Environment, Quality, Occupational Health and Safety.

Green Globe 21

Contrary to many standards, Green Globe 21 has been especially introduced for the travel and tourist industry. Green Globe 21 has been initiated during the global environmental congress in Brazil in 1992 and has been endorsed by 182 countries.

In meeting the Green Globe 21 standard Companies and organisations in the tourist industry demonstrate that they take the effects for the environment, the increased energy consumption and the associated waste products, very seriously. They make the effort to deal with this issue in a manner that is as environment friendly as possible. Hotels that are Green Globe 21 certified, receive a preference from tourists to those without this certificate.
